Structural Insulated Panels

On this restored Dutch barn, only the upper loft was insulated and air conditioned. SIPs were used on the roof with conventional fiberglass insulation on the loft walls. The exterior of the barn frame was clad with rough sawn white pine, acting as the interior finished walls. Finally, the barn’s exterior was sided with stone.
This beautiful log cabin was originally built in Ohio circa 1836. It was restored using SIPs on the roof only. The 8” thick oak logs and fiberglass insulation between the chinking act as the wall insulation.
